Diy monogram cake topper crystals – get the size, color, and design that you want for lots less.

Adding monogram cake topper crystals to your custom cake topper is a lot easier than you may think. When it comes to picking a cake topper, you basically will be picking either an “off the shelf” design in a standard font or crystal color and placement or you’ll be ordering a custom design.

If you want to use crystals on your cake topper, there’s no question that adding them as a do it yourself project is going to save you money while offering you complete control over crystal color, size, and placement. It’s easy to do so why not create it exactly like you want it for less?

Why should you consider adding your own monogram cake topper crystals? There are lots of reasons.

  • It’s easy – we’ll get into how easy in just a minute.

  • It’s very inexpensive – crystals, glue, and you are all you need and that doesn’t cost much.

  • You have total control over the crystal sizes, colors, and placement.

  • If you make a mistake, it’s easy to fix it without ruining your cake topper.

  • Especially if you want to cover both sides of your cake topper, adding your own monogram cake topper crystals as a do it yourself project will save you lots of money. It doesn’t take a lot of time.

Here are a couple of things to think about as well.
  • If you want a combination of matte finish and a little shine, adding monogram cake topper crystals to a brushed metal topper can provide that balance.

  • If you want to add more sparkle and color to the reflectivity of a shiny acrylic mirror topper, you can add crystals for that effect, too.

  • If you want to use a real silver or gold cake topper, you may not want to take a chance using glue on precious metals. If you’re spending that kind of money on a cake topper, it would be best to let a custom jeweler handle the project.

  • With the toppers we offer, the glue can easily be wiped away with rubbing alcohol within 10 minutes of application.

Adding monogram cake topper crystals:

You’ll need:

  • Flat back crystals – we offer crystals in various sizes and colors. You can use crystals from craft stores or other sources. Flat back crystals work best because they have more surface contacting the topper – in other words, they’ll be less fragile.

  • Medium strength cement with a fine tip applicator – this will allow you enough time to correct mistakes before setting and the fine tip will help you make a cleaner application.

It’s easy. Have an open bottle of rubbing alcohol nearby and a cloth that will not leave strands of cloth or residue on the topper if you use it.

If you want to mark the spots that you’ll add the glue with dots, consider using colored crayons or grease pencils. That way, you can mark the spots where you’ll use differently colored crystals with different colors.

Consider tracing your topper on a piece of paper and sketching the colors in or simply laying the crystals on it or on the topper to get a feel for what you’ll like. Then you can experiment without any time pressure.

Once you’ve got it figured out, just place dots of glue where you’d like the crystals. Use tweezers for best results to lay the crystal on the glue. If you make a mistake, wipe the affected crystal and the topper with rubbing alcohol. When it dries, try again.

You’ll be amazed at how easy and quick the process is.

Consider practicing on another surface other than your topper before you get started.
